Captain Robert B. Olds, U.S. Navy (Retired)

•    Born in Orange, CA.  Raised in Arcadia and Monrovia.
•    Mechanical Engineering graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.   Masters degree in Navy Management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.
•    Joined Naval Reserve in college. Upon Cal Poly graduation completed the Reserve Officer Candidate Program at Naval Station Long Beach, commissioned an Ensign in July 1953, and on to Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL for flight training.
•    31 years naval service (1953-1984) in a wide variety of aviation, seagoing, and staff assignments during the Cold War and Vietnam.  Has flown over and/or sailed upon most of the world’s oceans, and visited 26 different countries..
•    Served as Commanding Officer of two aviation squadrons, a large replenishment ship, a squadron of large replenishment ships, and two shore based training activities.
•    Upon Navy retirement was employed as a Ship Maintenance Engineer in a private Virginia shipyard, doing maintenance, modernization, and repair of Navy ships.
•    With wife Marty retired to their native California in 1987.
•    Their son Bob Jr. served as a Naval Officer for twenty years, and their Grandson Bayley is currently serving as a U.S. Coast Guard Officer.
