Luke Chapter Members-Turkeys for Troops 

Hello Luke Chapter Members,

Once again, Rev. Fannalou Guggisberg is heading our Luke Chapter drive for packaged and canned food to be distributed to needy enlisted members and their families this November.  This is the “Turkeys for Troops” annual event!

The Luke AFB First Sergeant’s Council identifies those active-duty families most in need.  The Council then distributes turkeys and food items at the Main Chapel on Luke AFB on November 21, in preparation for Thanksgiving Day family celebrations.  Luke Chapter, as part of the overall effort, has supported this annual event for many, many years.

We need your surplus canned and packaged food items which are within the ‘use by’ dates on the item, and which are appropriate for a family Thanksgiving Day meal.  So far, Fannalou has received only a little more than 100 items.  In most past years, we have exceeded 1,000 items---so we have a long way to go.

Bring your packaged food to the November 6 Luke Chapter dinner at the Colonnade from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.  MOAA Vice President Jim Co, Council and Chapter Section leader, will be our speaker, and buffet dinner will be served.  Your dinner reservation must be in Ellie Daly’s hands no later than October 30th (her phone is 480.326.2021).  We will be at the main entry of the Colonnade to receive your items.  We will take them to Fannalou’s garage for sorting and pickup by the First Sergeant’s Council.  Even if you are not attending the dinner and program, please bring them at this time for efficient collection. 

Would you like to give cash to this effort?  Please make your check out to the “Luke Chapter Community Fund.  Your donation is tax-deductible under the IRS and Arizona rules.  We welcome cash for additional food purchases and commissary gift cards to be distributed to those in need.
